how to rejuvenate old anthuriums

I have some old anthuriums which I am trying to grow. They are old plants, mostly a stump with a few small leaves. I have repotted them leaving the stump exposed. They produce a few small leaves a year. Do I need to repot them and bury the stump. What is the secret?

Do you know what species/variety of anthurium? Could you post a photo of it?
