Help In I.D.'ing A Houseplant

Hi!

I had just bought a plant from the Home Depot and I need help in identifying it.

The plant is in a 6" pot. It has these gorgeous neon pinkish-orange stems (what caught my eye), green sword-like floppy leaves, and, on mine and on some of the other same plants, there is this corn-in-the-cob looking like appendage growing from the middle of the plant.

The "cob" is dark brown. When there is no "corn" in it, the "cob" has a very light, dry, flaky, crumbly texture to it (like it's fulfilled it's purpose and it's dying out). The "cob" ranges from 1" to 2" in height and about 1" wide.

The "corn" are these flat, ovoid shaped seeds (?) that are a paler orange than the stems. These seeds are a little smaller than pumpkin seeds. My plant and the others have a spread of about a foot.

I looked all over the pot and on the other ones to see if there was a label for them other than being called your generic "tropical plant", but no such luck.

Any suggestions on identifying my plant would be most appreciated. Thank you...

Sincerely,

mbluetyphoon
