I have a red variety but not sure which one. Was given to me as a cutting. For me it has been the most incredibly invasive plant I've ever seen lol. Climbs by tendrils and in a staight line . have to prune at least once a month, and every cutting will reroot given a chance . I'd certainly get some local advice on how it does in your area.. There are dozens of varieties including several reds . gary

passiflora can be invasive someplaces and not so much in others.

If you live in a part of California where this won't ever freeze, it will require a lot of constant pruning to keep this restrained to only 10 foot of area, and I wouldn't recommend it. On the other hand, if you are the type who doesn't water and it is in poor, crappy soil, it might not even get to 10 feet, so it really depends on the care you give it and your local climate.

P.coccinea is a very vigorous plant. In some shade it won't get out of hand. In full sun it will cover a 10' arbor in one season. It is fairly cold hardy, but a heavy frost and 24 deg last Febuary killed it to the ground. Now you would never know it. It's now fully recovered and about to start blooming. (Blooms in winter here in N. central FL) It is not a host for butterflies if that is your intent.

Hi ,I came across this discussion about passiflora.
I planted the passion vine for several years but don't know the name .
Is it vine ever has seed.If this vine can grow from seed.Please help me how to collect seed .Please see pic

It looks to me as if it could be Passiflora 'Lavender Lady', which is a hybrid and does not usually form fruits or set seed here in northern California, and would not come true to seed if it does. Easily available in the nursery trade here in California, and is practically non-stop blooming here in milder coastal influenced gardens.
