thunbergia grandiflora over-winter in north

From a little plant from Logee's bought this spring I now have a huge vine on my patio only now starting to flower. I don't have a greenhouse and not even many good sunny windows but was wondering if there is a way to over-winter this. I am hoping maybe I could force it into dormancy (by letting a frost hit it) and then cut it back and stick it in my cool basement over-winter. Does anyone know if this would work? It works for many of my tropicals.

You can do this---mine dies to the ground each year in Zone 8---but you'll get better performance from it next year if you cut it back before frost and keep it somewhere above 40 degrees. It won't require a LOT of light, and it will get looking rather crappy, but it will get happy again come spring.

I keep mine under grow-lights over the winter. Have to do that as, for some reason, it never actually blooms until about November. But that's fine with me, as I appreciate the flowers more then!
