No way, plant them immediately or chuck them into the compost pile.

You could keep it for a few weeks in the fridge but I doubt the seed would last months. Why bother saving it? Just get another avocado at the grocery store.

Organic Avacados I have fount that they sprout much easier than non-organic. Also mine sprouted in about a week after planting, I attribute that to my careful removal of the brown seed membrane.

I've kept a few avocado pits around just a few weeks after careful cleaning and they inevitably shrivel. I'd agree with the above--they may last longer in the fridge, but they don't last that long.

If you carefully clean and dry the seeds and store in the fridge, they might keep--only one way to find out for sure, and that's to do it.

Even fresh seeds I've tried planting have failed though--I've had a germination rate of 40%, but the larger, organic seeds did better. If you are planning to do the water method, it can take several weeks before anything happens, so don't expect you'll have to do anything for awhile.

I'd also recommend just getting new avocados when you're ready, but if you want to try saving some you have now, all you've got to lose is the space they take up in the meantime. It would be an experiment to see if they last. I haven't tried keeping them more than a week or two.
