| Hi all. I have an Ensete ventricosum that I started from seed. It germinated in July, is about 18" high and has 7 leaves. Can I let it go dormant for the winter? I have run out of space for plants of course ;-p |

| Do you mean is it safe? Yes. I enforce dormancy on most all of my indoor/outdoor plants every winter. I've kept a banana this way and all the suckers it put out, too. Just lowered the amount of water, eliminated fertilizer, and tried to keep up with the humidity. Eventually gave away all its offspring but I kept the parent plant for many years that way. Sorry can't help you with your space problem except to offer to take it off your hands, but alas, I'm about out of room too. |
