Dead Mango Tree?

Hi All,
My Mango tree looked sick when we bought the house, and was in a shady area. Sick = had black spots, produced 1 fruit, and the fruit was soft.
So, I (being not knowledgeable), transplanted the tree to a full sun location. I also added some 10-10-10 fertilizer after the tree turned brown.
Is this tree dead? Should I prune it? Should I yank it out of ground and buy a new one? ;) Your advice would be great!
