Our cab driver, a horticultural expert according to him, said this was the Whistling Tree because when the seed pods dried out and the wind blew, the tree whistled. All fine and dandy, but a search finds Whistling Tree frogs but no trees.

As you can tell from the third picture, this is a fairly large tree. And from our brief, partially sober, field expedition, I can tell you it's a prodigious seeder. Several were found growing up through cracks in the concrete.
