It looks like some type of monstera.

It's a Philodendron selloum! Because the major part of it has died off, it probably won't need repotting for another 2 years or so. Just keep it in bright indirect light or morning sun, water it deeply when the soil is dry about a half inch down, and feed with your favorite houseplant food, according to package directions.

You might want to cut off that dead stem, and cut off the aerial roots when they start making a nuisance of themselves. The leaf sheaths can be removed with a gentle pull once they turn brown and papery.

When it is time to repot it, use a fast draining mix like cactus mix, or even african violet mix.

Over all, it's a fairly easy, though rather large, houseplant.

Not Philodendron selloum (Philodendron bipinnatifidum) but it is a member of Philodendron subgenus Meconostigma. Philodendron bipinnatifidum has pinnatifid leaves and is in the same subgenus.

Since they are variable this could be a hybrid known as Philodendron Evansii but more likely one of several other species. If you can post photos of both the top and bottom of the leaf on your photo page I believe I can direct an expert in the Meconostigma group to help you find an ID.
