Congrats ! I gave up after 4 months might have had bad seed though. Sounds to me like your doing the right thing.

Thanks Topher!! I thought I was gonna be waiting forever, lol. You shouldnt have given up, I heard it may take as long as 9 months!
I dont know if it was coincidence or not..but..I had mine under lights with bottom heat for awhile..I changed my set-up, and forgot I had my last 2 surviving BOP's sitting on the windowsill!! It was pretty cold there. WHen I saw them there, I thought they were goners for sure. Wouldn't you know, the one sprouted! I put them both back where they belonged with bottom heat & overhead light. But I am wondering if that lil bit of cold maybe helped somehow or if it was coincidence. You should try again, the fresher the seed the better.
One more thing..the 2 that survived and didnt mush on me were the 2 that I didn't knick!! Go figure.
Now to get it to survive as a seedling. Cross your fingers for me!!

Honestly, I dont know, lol. But, I wanna say orange..I had purchased them from Park Seed in October. Just said 'Strelitzia Reginae', no color specified. God only knows how long it will take to bloom for me to find out, lol. I've heard 4 years is common, but then again I have heard 2 years. But believe me..when it blooms I'll be so excited I'll be right back here postin pix, and bursting with excitement!

S. reginea is orange- there are some cultivars with yellow instead of orange, but those are rare and i doubt park seed would have them. s. nicolai is the white BOP and it is a completely different plant. This one trunks and grows well over 20 feet tall in favorable climates. do a google search for each one and you'll see the difference.
