I have actually never heard of this plant until your post so I looked it up. It is quite a beautiful plant. I found out that it grows very fast when watered well, but blooms best when it is a little drier. Do you water it less in the winter than in the summer?

It seems like some people get it to bloom all year and others only during certain seasons. Like I said I dont know much about this plant, but thats what I could find out.

Once it's moved to the greenhouse I cut back on watering but I rarely water it while it's outside. I only give it water when I feed it or if it hasn't rained in a couple weeks during times of high temps. It's a relatively carefree plant and extremely easy to propagate from cuttings but it's never produced seeds. I still have a few that I didn't get rid of over the summer if you are interested when it warms up. The variegated form has gorgeous foliage but I've never gotten it to bloom.

Im going to try to get some fertilizer high in potassium (high last number out of those 3 numbers on the fertilizer bottle). That should encourage flowering. Im going to also give it lots of water until late june and thats when Im going to use the fertilizer and really reduce watering. Hopefully if I do that i will see some blooms by mid/late july.

Mine is setting buds now, in the greenhouse.

It appears that the normal flowering time is fall to spring so I guess I'm stuck with a giant plant in the greenhouse. I'll cut it back after it finishes blooming. I wish that my variegated one would bloom too.

I sure was hoping for some summer bloom, I guess it cant hurt to try, but still blooms like that indoors is pretty awesome! The leaves alone make a beautiful plant (and the variegated one... even more beautiful!).

Mine blooms off and on all summer long but has no blooms now. Then I just saw it at a botanical garden blooming. I think you should keep trying.
