hi yard-lvr hi, i would either chop the tree down and plant another tree. A kaimana variety is a very good lychee hee in hawaii,also groff is a good cultivar, the fruit is small but the seed is also small, its almost like a mini kaimana! Brewster is a actually a pretty good variety, my grandfather has a tree on the big island and it produces a nice big sweet fruit, but has a large seed. or if this seems to difficult you could always chop it down and let it regrow, then have someone graft on some varities on the branches then you can get two different types of lychee out of one tree! Thanks for your reply.. i feel sad cutting down such an old tree but I have limited yard space so the trees that I do have I feel should be productive. When we go to Hilo in May, we stuff ourselves on lychee. It sure would be nice to have my own supply!! I'm going to Waimanalo today to see what varieties of lychee (and maybe ONE more avocado) I can find. aloha.

What kind of avocado where you looking at getting? To me the Kahaluu, Malama, yamagata, ota, nishikawa are probably the best avocados I've ever tasted the all have big fruit and buttery! But the most best one out of that is the Kahaluu! The fruit are huge and have a real High oil and butter content, they also have a pretty good shelf life!
