Potted fig trees fruiting while dormant...

Posted by Tyga Colorado (My Page) on

So I just noticed that 2 of my fig trees are starting to bud/produce figs right now while dormant. Any ideas? One other is starting to bud the leaves. This is my first over winter with figs, is this normal?

Hi Tyga,
quite normal if they are of a two crop variety.
These usually bear fruits twice a year: the first flush in early summer from buds or even small fruits borne late in previous summer and gone dormant. The second flush from buds on new growth (usually these latter are the best)
