Avocados grown from a pit will not produce the exact same fruit.That is the first thing you need to know.Second,they need lots of water.Rain water best.Third they are heavy "feeders".

I have one grown from a Zutano pit. It is growing really well, in ground on a drip system. I am looking forward to the day it produces to see if the fruit is worth the water it takes. It is leafing out now, and we may get a small fruit or two this year. I see what looks like the start of flower brackets. The tree is 5' tall. We purchased a grafted tree last year, but it didn't make it. Going to get another one soon to replace the one that died. Didn't know they are heavy feeders. Will fertilize immediately. Thanks!
