That's like the 3rd time I've seen flowers coming out the trunk of a mango - super weird!

Don't know what to advise here, JF, other than what I've heard which is let it set small fruits first, then cut the fruits off. I think the common knowledge is if you cut the flowers off, it will just re-flower. So you'll have more time for growth....

Mine not only flowered off the trunk-it had one fruit. And it wasnt bad,I was told ( I didnt get a chance to taste it myself)So it might mean Baileys graft isnt much different from the host tree. But,since I didnt taste..cant say for sure.
Its got to be the cooler weather of California on potted tree's at least. Even in soucal,when its 90f..the nights drop to the 50's..winters see many nights in the lowest 40's-at least.
If it looks too small to hold full sized fruit-it probably is. Its really a choice of..In no hurry and dont mind a smaller tree with 2-5 fruits..or in a hurry to see it flush into a larger tree.
At least Jay,you dont have to worry about a winter worn tree offed by frost. Just a matter of waiting until warm spring weather.

I guess I will snap the flowers off. I am NOT going to let it fruit this year....I don't care how many times it flowers. Stan, have you put that Bailey on the ground yet?

I'm waiting until spring Jay. I'm thinking inside a raised area of 2x4's. Or just flush with the ground?...and wire under and around the rootball with trunk guard. I dont know how-but the critters always go for whats most important to me.

Let it try to set fruit and pick off any fruitlets it sets. Good chance it doesn't set any and just dries out, but if you remove the spike before this happens they'll often try to re-bloom.
