Pummelo/irrigation/salt

Hi. I just bought a pink HB pummelo and want to plant it in my mom's yard. Previously I planted 2 mangos there and both died because of the salt in the irrigation water. I don't think the irrigation water is excessively salty...its just my understanding that mango trees hate salt. Does anyone grow citrus trees in a yard with irrigation (and where the irrigation may be partly salty)? I hate to plant a 7' pummelo to watch it die. Thanks!

Nevermind...it is dependent on the rootstock.

Yes, the tag even says HB Pummelo/Swingle...from what I've read the Swingle is a rootstock moderately susceptible to salt...so no go! So I think I'm going to plant it in a park directly behind my work building (guerrilla fruitscaping).
