lychee prune question

All of my Lychee branches threw out a growth flush in late November into Dec. Well, it appears the new flush on a couple of the branches didn't seem to mature all the way. This was due to the several freezes I had to protect the tree from. The leaves cover the bracnch properly all the way around, but they are smaller, crinkly(shriveled), and yellowish in color. Around late January, they spiked, Lychees on their way. Below the new spike, on a more developed looking branch, along with better looking leaves appears to have a growth flush coming out of the joints. Question. Should I prune it back to the healthier looking joints were a flush is about to take place or leave the tree alone?
