Truly Anthracnose Resistant Mango

abayomi

I am selecting mangoes from a substantial list provided by Instituto Canario de Investigaciones Agrarias courtesy of pikorazi (thanks). In researching the types, I note stark starkly conflicting information on the web on anthracnose resistance.

Some list Nam Doc Mai as high resistance, others say it is poor.

Same for Van Dyke.

Same for a number of others on "the list".

Manila is from Philipines yet suffers?

While I am not oblivious to the risk of this tree import quest, I want to do my best not to put up serious money based on flawed info.

So, what is "the" truth?

Who has experienced a truly anthracnose resistant mango?

Strong evidence is not without problems E.g. having trees experience anthracnose while one variety thrived regardless...

@abayomi i am located in the Dominican Republic, and have a friend that is a agriculture expert, he works on a private experimental farm that grows mangoes and other fruit trees to test in our humid wet weather. I will print this list out and hopefully I can get some information. they have hundreds of trees, mostly mango.

Here is a video I filmed there a couple years ago.

its in spanish, pero como eres del Instituto Canario de Investigaciones creo que eso no va ser un problema.

I try and visit this weekend, this ranch is owned by the ex president, ( Hipolito Mejia ), and he is running again, so it ay be tough, but Saturday is "open house" so maybe ill get lucky, also I am hoping to get my hands on some dragon fruit, they have been testing 12 varieties.

I got my "Nam Doc Mai", and "Ice Cream" from there also.
