Lychee - Will I get fruits

Hi,

When I first made my garden, I bought a tree that was said to be 10y old. The tree (and I) had hard time adjusting, I didn't water enough, the leaves fell,...
It's been 5 years since planted and now the tree and I are in sync on water quantities.
It has never given fruits, last year, I saw the panicles, but winter ended too soon, and I didn't water enough, and they all dried out. This year I am getting flowers, but as much as I can recognize they are all female (see picture). I wonder if there is still something wrong or is it normal and I should get fruits eventually.

It's interesting to know that you can plant lychees in Israel. Is that where you're from? I'm no expert in lychees, but I do know that they love being watered--especially when they are growing. So, keeping your lychee watered well will certainly help plant growth and fruit production when the weather warms up. So, how warm is your temperature there now and how low does it get in the Winter?

With regards to the female flowers showing up first, I was also interested in finding that out too, so I did a search and came up with this link:

I don't know if it matters which kind show up first. I think eventually the three types of flowers mentioned in the article will show up:

"There are 3 types of flowers appearing in irregular sequence or, at times, simultaneously, in the lychee inflorescence: a) male; b) hermaphrodite, fruiting as female (about 30% of the total); c) hermaphrodite fruiting as male. The latter tend to possess the most viable pollen. Many of the flowers have defective pollen and this fact probably is the main cause of the abortive seeds and also the common problem of shedding of young fruits. The flowers require transfer of pollen by insects."

So, it looks like the bugs will play an important part in the pollination process. If your plant is planted in the ground and outside (that is not in a greenhouse), I think there's every chance for it to be pollinated by the insects in your area.

The blooms on your lychee all look very healthy to me. They don't seem to have anything bugging them, so I think they should bear fruit for you. Here, I have web worm problems. This year, I haven't seen yet and hopefully not at all.

By the way, what's the variety you have there? I have a few here--Mauritius, Sweet Heart, Emperor, Brewster and Hak Ip.
Not all of them are bearing fruit this year, except Hak Ip and a small Brewster in the pot.
