Cutting removing?

My sugar apple has flushed new growth and was wondering if i could remove the new shoots that are not necessary. For example, near the center of the canopy where it would block most sun. By the way, these shoots are only several inches long. Again, would it be ok to remove these new shoots?

Or the n ew growth that comes out in pairs. Do I remove the less desired One that will grow in an undesired direction

Unless your canopy is already full, I'd only cut the branch ends to force it to fill out.

All of the sugar apples I have seen spread out in a fan like configuration, getting the canopy full is time consuming, as I do not like the fan effect much.
