My home grafted Maha Chanook 18 months old

On August 31 2010, I visited Harry's place in South Florida while on vacation. I brought over several well known and a few new unreleased varieties from Zill that I purchased the day before. We proceeded to compare them to Harry's priced Maha Chanook (MC) mango. Needless to say the MC tasted superior to all the types that we compared it to.

Before leaving, Harry allowed me to get some budwood from his priced MC mango tree. I grafted the budwood using a few different graft styles; veneer, chip, shield, cleft, and bark graft. I grafted the budwood the same day I gathered it. The only graft that produced great results was the bark graft.

The tree started to grow like crazy the first year and by August 2011 it had reached a height a little less than 5 feet. In late February 2012 it started to push bloom spikes. To my amazement this small and young tree has set lots of fruit. I'm shocked at the total transformation that this tree has accomplished in less then 18 months.

Thank you Harry!
