Hi there - just 'lived the dream' and bought two 3-gallon mangoes for container gardening here in NW Austin Texas (Mallika and Maha Chinook.)

Some questions - soil composition? Should I prune upon receiving (they are being mailed from Fl), and if so, how? How often to water, and should I avoid watering any certain times (like during flowering, etc.)? Best fertilizers, and when to fertilize? What size container should I put them in at first, and when do I need to transplant them to larger containers?

Thanks so much. I am so excited at these. I know (from reading previous entries) that the Maha Chinook might need a 50 or even 100 gallon container, so when should I anticipate this?

Thanks again! I am sure a lot of these questions can be answered by reading more old posts, but I haven't seen them yet so I want to make sure I'm prepared when they arrive!!!
