Avocado Tree Branch & Twig Borer

Please help.

I think I have a Borer inside my tree.

Is there any way to prevent my tree from dying? I bought it last summer and it grew a bit before stopping in September. Now it has just recently started growing again and has a lot of new growth on it. But last Thursday I noticed that hole and a lot of dust around it. The borer attacked the actual stem of my tree and not any branches. I'm so upset :(

Hi,

I read that site on Sunday but it basically condemned my tree to dead since the borer tunneled into the main stem and not a branch. I was wondering if anyone on this site had any personal experience with tree borers. I've come to the conclusion that I can't do anything to help my tree but wait a year and hope that the borer doesn't kill it.
