Damaged Mango Root

I was eating a mango today and I accidently bit into the tap root of the seed that was growing inside the fruit! I decided to go ahead and get the seed from the inside of the fruit and im going to try to save it. Is it possible or did I damage the root to bad? Help!

it might be able to keep growing, but easy enough to buy more mangos and try to grow more.

Thankyou for replying. I wrapped it in a damp paper towel and put it in a ziplock bag in the window sill. New root growth is coming along so I plan to put it in dirt soon. But i do plan on trying to growmore. :)
