Sapodilla Alano, this is a very slow growing tree and this tree has been
planted on the ground for 2 years now.It does fine in Cali.weather and does not need protection during winter months.

Wow, your trees are looking great Ajay, thanks for all the photos. Boy sapodilla being a slow grower is an understatement, they take forever.

good luck with all the blooms,
    -Ethan

Great looking trees! My Hasya is a super slow grower but it looks like it's starting to flower. Is your Carrie in the ground or in a container?

nice work Ajay - where DO you live again?

If you are in Zone 10 I think the Manila would be safe to put in the ground. They seem the hardiest so far to me.

And doesn't that super healthy Hass turn in to a MONSTER tree? I had a friend in long beach who had a 60 X 60 foot goliath that rained avocados for days in season....course you might be an old man by the time that happens (wink wink!)

Nice trees. Your Lancetilla flowered early. Mine just started flowering this week. Unless mine is blooming late? And can you tell me how old your atemoya trees are?

Great updates ajaysr5, of all the mangoes you have grown, which one is your favorite tasting? All your trees look extremely healthy and I bet you'll get very nice harvests in a couple years. Man, I really need to plant my trees into the ground.

Jfernandez,I have 2 Carrie one in a pot and the other one
on the ground for more than 2 years now.

mangodog,I live in Carson,90745 by long beach.

marinfla,Atemoya has been in the ground fora couple of years
now and they are fast growing.Hopefully I get fruit
this year as last year I did not let fruit set.

Simon grow,Favorite so far is Carrie but this year
is the first year I will let my lancetilla and mallika hold
    fruit.

My alano in the GH actually grew very well. Sized up a bunch and had to prune quite often. The problem was that it only produced a few blooms every now and then and never developed a fruit. I warned that plant many many times!! Finally yanked the damn thing out of the ground to make room for something else. No room in the GH for non-performers!!

VERY nice Plants!! Everything looks great and healthy...good luck! Hope you get lots of fruits!

I believe Lancetilla is a late variety...I think the fruit ripens around August/September? Actually one of the safer mango trees that might be great for areas that gets frost in winter. That way the blooms don't get "nipped" in Jan/Feb since the blooms usually come after the frost...especially in FL.
