Plant-o-gram would probably be best of those that you listed. I pretty much get everything from Pine Island Nursery. Their prices are usually the best and shipping is not too crazy if you order 2 plants, but I would bet you would get a better looking tree from plant o gram. I think Plant-o-gram will take a pic of the tree before they send it if you ask them to. Their trees will probably be the best because he personally picks out the trees from either Zills or pine island (just assuming on the sources but practically everything in the state originates from Zills as far as I know).

I think I want to grow it in a pot, but I dont want to have to wait forever to taste the fruit, and im willing to pay for the that 3gal dot mango from plantogram someone recently posted looks pretty good, but the thought of a 7gal is really tempting

Go for the 3 gal plantogram! I want to add a pickering as well, just got to wait a few months... I was thinking of getting a sapodilla and starfruit before adding another mango. I was going to order from Plantogram after hearing the glowing reviews. The other two places you mentioned have had mixed reviews and higher prices on average.

Here is a real simple solution to your problem. Ask Mickey at Plant-o-gram to send you some pictures of the Pickering Mango trees he has. Then you know what you will be getting and you can pick out the exact Mango tree you want. Plus, most of the stuff Mickey has in 3 gallon are easily as big, if not bigger, than what others carry in 7 gallon. I have bought tons of stuff from him and have never been dissapointed. Plus, I guarentee, he will make right any problems you might run into without a hassle, which is more than I can say for most others.

7 gal sounds nice... but I think it does not warrant difference in price. Going with 3 gal vs 7 gal could be about 1-2 years actual mango growth behind (could make that up easily, making the mango happy). Tops 7 gal mango is a little more then double the price of the 3 gal Plantogram mango (when you factor in the increased shipping costs).

If it was me, I would purchase (2) 3gal mangoes from Plantogram... instead of (1) 7 gal from Tops. Maybe get another mango like Nam Doc Ma or Fairchild.

Plant-o-gram has great customer service beware of their trees some are potbound, if you don't believe me look at their pics how can you fit a 6' tree on a 3 gallon?. I had two die because of this so don't succumbed to temptation. I would wait until Nov. and go to Mimosa nursery they have a 50% sale on all mangos.

You don't really need a 7 gallon to get fruit right away. My Pickering, which I got last summer has 3 fruit now. I am probably going to allow just one to ripen (my gift to the squirrels, since they always get to them before I do). My vote is go with the 3 gallon

I bought a 7gal pickering and after I tasted the only 2 fruits it gave me I fell in love and got a 3gal for me and another one for my parents. This tree is pretty but grows VERY slow. To me there is a huge difference between the 7 and 3 and for this specimen I would probably go larger. But that's my newbie opinion :) good luck

mfajar makes a good point. I bought my 3 gal pickering from PIN last fall and it is doing well (flowering in a BIG way right now) but does seem to have a very very slow way about it, and I've read they are quite slow growers.

Everyone is right, on the other hand, about Mickey sending you a picture and making you happy BEFORE you purchase a tree from him. I would try the Mickey option first, then if is just seems too small then go with Top - but do at least ask them HOW TALL AND WHAT SHAPE IT IS even if they can't send you a picture....

and of course Mickey will treat you to a little gift with your main purchase. I'm all for supporting great customer satisfaction like that!

Even though I am really happy with My new Pickering Mango tree from T.T., if P.O.G. would have stated that they had Pickerings in stock on their web site, I would have ordered from them first. He gets such great reviews and you get a free plant bonus. My next order will be from him although I would still order from T.T. for things that P.O.G. doesn't have.
Too bad that P.I. doesn't ship to AZ.

I don't know Mickey but as the reviews are so good, sounds like he would try to find you a 7gal if you really pressed for one I mean he goes through Zill's and they probably have bigger...

hes got one on hold for me, its almost 7gal size, he said he was leftover from last seasons stock.. he also has a few more smaller normal 3gal size pickerings... but i made sure he put that one from last season on hold for me =)

I ordered the Pickering from Mickey, came out to 104 with shipping to AZ.. I ran through the checkout for the 7gal at Top and it was 128 after a 10% code i had from an email.. But I wonder if thats the price that sticks, or do they adjust it after you go deeper in the checkout process?

I'm kinda debating if I made the right move here, only 24 more for the top 7gal, but Mickey does give you the added aceerola which looks real nice, h e sent me photos of everything I was interested in and even a shot of the free acerola.. So i guess it balances out when you factor in the added plant, and amazing customer service..

You guys weren't kidding, Mickey really packs them good, and it's super healthy and a nice thick trunk.

This is my first lower grafted mango, after seeing this compared to my ca grown upper v graft mangos I don't see why they all don't grow them with soil line grafts, it makes the tree wwaaaaayyy stouter.. My mind is blown at the difference lol.. I wish I could trade my Glenn and nam doc for Florida grafted trees, but it's too late for that haha

I'll have to post pics of it and the freebie Barbados cherry (which is flowering already..I think it's an air layer)

Okay, with a name like Plant-O-Gram you have to be suspicious⦠None the less, after searching long and hard for a Mango tree I chose them. As luck would have it, about 30 minutes after placing my order for two Mallika Mangos, my wife instructed me to get two different types for more variety. So I opted for one Mallika and one Neelum. When I called back to change my order they had already packed them for shipping that day (only been about 35 minutes by now⦠theyâÂÂre quick!) None the less, the person who answered the phone was familiar with the Neelum Mango without needing a reference number (they have a butt load of trees, IâÂÂd sure as heck of needed a reference number), and took my info and said heâÂÂd call me back if an exchange could be made. About 5 minutes later he called me back and said they could still change it since it hadnâÂÂt been picked up yet, but the delay might cause it not to go out until the next day. (LetâÂÂs see, a one day delay, caused by me, to avoid having my wife lecture me for the next year⦠a bargain!) None the less, they still repacked it with the new tree and got it out the same day (as noted above⦠they are quick!) The trees arrived 48 hours later.

Upon opening my shipping box I found my trees to have arrived large, green, and healthy. They were extremely well packed and Plant O Gram even threw in a small cherry tree (Surinam) as a bonus.

As to price⦠well, I live in NC so you sure arenâÂÂt going to find a Mango tree at LoweâÂÂs. The closest designer LoweâÂÂs had was a nice Monrovia seedless Lime tree for the same price, at slightly less than half the size. So even if I could find what I wanted at LoweâÂÂs (Which is a fine store that supports the military I might add ïÂÂ), it appears it would be smaller and the same price, this definitely justifies the shipping cost from Plant O Gram!

I've heard many great reviews on Plant O Gram...Congrats on your Mango trees...Since I live in FL I'm lucky enough to be able to buy my trees locally...soon enough you will have mangoes hanging off the branches and eating some of those delicious home grown mangoes...nothing like the first taste from your very own tree...Good luck!!

If you decide to buy another one...try Pickering. Its a reliable heavy producer, absolutely fiberless with a hint of coconut flavor ( I have one planted in the ground) out of this world flavor, one of the best tasting mango out there IMHO. I didn't care for Mallika because many people described a "carrot" flavor after taste,lol...also when to pick the right time to pick the fruit confused me,lol...,(that whole Camel Dung) comment :o)... but taste is subjective...so I'm sure you'll like it? Have you ever tried one?
