Do you have sooty mold, or do you scale? Where you have black sooty mold scale is usesaul around. I use a light oil to kill the scale. But now that were getting hot weather you will have to go with straight Malathion spray. Make sure you get under the leaves and on the branches.
This application is useaul done in the fall after things start to cool down. Malathion&oil will take care of mites and thrips also in the fall.
We trim the trees, spray them and fertize inthe fall. We call this putting the trees to bed for the winter.
