Also, they devoured the new leaves only.

Hmnnn I have not seen that on any of my trees.

That new growth otherwise does not really look right to me.. Maybe a nutritional deficiency ?

I use NEEM oil on all my trees every two weeks. Before I did, I had caterpillars out the wazoo.

Neem is very good...just remember whatever you use make sure you don't spray in direct sun...I would do it when the sun goes down so the tree has shade for several hours before the next day's sun comes out.
