Mango Culling Strategy

Hi All! My 10 ft mango tree is loaded with fruit that is between small pea sized and 2". I know that it will drop most. From experience, I also know that I will have to prop up some of the lower branches as fruit matures on them. It's a pain.

Knowing that the tree will drop most of the fruit, will removing fruit on the lower branches increase the chances that more fruit will mature on the upper branches? If the tree 'decides' that it only wants to keep 20 mangoes to maturity, I'd rather have them be on upper branches.

Do y'all think the tree keeps mangoes on a 'per total tree' basis, or 'per branch' basis?
