There's a bad infestation of scale, both on the fruit and the trunk. Probably the stems have been weakened by the scale.

is that "white peach scale" ?

I had posted elsewhere and some others told me the spots were probably just sun damage.
The white spots are only on the tops of the fruit.
and we had a LOT of rain recently, so i was thinking the one or 2 cracks in the skin were from that.

How do i control scale ?

can i still eat the papayas ?

There might be scale on the trunk, hard to see on the pic, on the fruits I see rather scabs and sunken lessions. Can't see if they are soft and the white stuff is a fungus. Might be that the rain caused some tiny lessions and the sun dried them out and they are fine, might also be that too much of that rain caused some fungus to get into your fruits. So I'd keep an eye on it if there are any soft spots or white fungus develops. I see that the trunk also has those white spots, so I do tend to say it's a fungus scab, but it's hard to tell from the pics alone.
If there's no mold growing on or in them, they should be fine to eat.

It's definitely scale, and it is visible on the trunk in the second photo. I've seen plenty of it before. It doesn't affect edibility, but it does sap energy and nutrients out of the plant.

I have San Jose Red Scale on a citrus tree, and I found that spraying rubbing alcohol (70%) on it seemed to loosen it up after a while, making it easier to wipe off. I've also read that Safer's Soap can be used used to loosen up the scale.

That's unusual, haven't seen anything like it before. Are those marks soft or hard? You may have to cut it open to see if it's superficial or goes deeper inside.

Scale on trunk and some fungus on the fruits ( I don't see any scale on the large fruit pics, just flat white spots). Maybe scab fungus on fruits, that's my guess.
