Is there any hope for my mostly dead Mangos?

We had a brutal winter here in South Louisiana as did the rest of the US- both of my four year old potted Mango trees appear to have bit the big one. I covered them up next to the house during the freezes but all of leaves are long gone. I cut them back hoping to get some new growth, anything. Does anyone know a method of saving them?- it's probably too late but I haven't given up hope yet. TIA

Mangoes can come back from looking like that. Give them half a summer..if nothing breaks a bud,OR if the trunk shrivels at anytime- its dead.

Do you have a picture...also to add to Stan's advise you can scratch the trunk (bark) to see if there seems to be any life? It can take several months to come up "if" its alive...if you see no new growth buds by July... I would say its probably a goner...like Stan said.

Oh, also out of curiousity how low were the temps and how many hours was it exposed to it?
