Tropical Fruits

Anybody know this member from Fresno, CA?

A while ago, maybe 2-3 years?, I read about someone on Gardenweb living in Fresno, who was in the process of creating a sub-terranean space to grow tropicals. His plan was quite ambitious. IIRC, he was digging a space about 6' deep, with a roof above ground level, thus creating a growing height of around 8'. My bad memory tells me the roof was gonna be 2' above ground. Well, that's what I remember. Does any of you remember this amazing plan, and what became of this project? Thanks,

That sounds eerily like Forestiere Gardens which are in Fresno. No tropicals there but there are a number of citrus planted way underground with their tops poking up through holes in the surface.

Wow, that's amazing. I have to visit this place. The gardenweb member I was asking about is not Forestiere. He was in the process of digging out a space in his backyard.
