Yes, would love a picture. I'd be very interested to hear about how this rootstock mango taste...I wish you the best and hope the house repairs doesn't cause any more damage to your tree...

Here's the largest fruit so far. The tree flushed in spring,then flowered,and now is flushing again. I wished it had not flowered so young though and reading that removing the flower stalks just causes the tree to make more,I left them. But,from this point I'm going to remove the newest stalks. I need more size to it. Its healthy though..no problems there.
And you can see the construction repairs is just about right up to the little tree. That "shelf" is temporary to hold tools.
And he better not drop anything on that tree.

so....stan....are some of the leaves burned?

Oh, and the time to remove the flowering stalks is after the little babies form, like the ones in your second picture, NOT when there are still flowers on them.

Nice tree Stan! MAD...I believe those are new growths, not sunburn...my Glenn has some of the prettiest colors when its flushing new growths :o)

Mad is right...now would be the time to remove those baby mangoes if you want to divert the energy to go the tree's growth...

Thanks..yes,that's a new flush. Will do on removing the new pea sized on another stalk. I've gotten Mangos to 7-9' tall in the bay area..in pots. This is as far as I've gotten in ground. Planted in spring 2013 as a mere stick with a few leaves. They really do make showy plants in flush,in flower,and in fruit. Its hard to stop one of those to help the others!

Now it looks more like 2 mango fruit are left. I stripped off the secondary pea sized fruits and whats left has grown more in a week then in 2 months. I guess it got the message.
I prefer growth..and now that its flushing again,I'm satisfied its still on the right track. At least it looks like a small tree should look with heavy new stems as compared to the thinner stems of potter plants.
