Palm Beach Rare Fruit Council Sale!! 07-16-2011

An Opportunity To Get Tropical Fruit Trees on July 16, 2011

A huge selection of mangos, bananas, avocados, citrus,

lychees, canistel, jackfruit and many other tropical fruit

trees, herb and spice plants will be on sale at the South

Florida Fairgrounds on Saturday July 16. 9 AM to 2 PM.

Arrive early for the best selection.

The sale is sponsored by the Rare Fruit Council-Palm

Beach Chapter, an organization of about 300 local

residents interested in growing and propagating tropical

fruit trees.

At the sale you can purchase plants which produce many

good tasting fruits, usually not available in local markets.

The Rare Fruit Council meets for monthly meetings

where members share their fruit with each other at a

"Tasting Table" and speakers give recommendations for

growing plants. Members receive special training on

grafting and other forms of propagating trees.

The prices are GREAT, I bought a Kohala Longan at last years show for $15, and this year its covered with fruit!

If anyone is going to the sale and is looking for a certain tree in particular let me know and I can try to make sure it's there if available.

Yup. Gonna be there till right before they have to pack all the trees that don't sell back into the trucks.

Boo Hoo I wish I had seen this post yesterday! I am going to tell myself it wouldn't have been worth the 2 1/2 to 3 hour trip.

Nice day at the show, saw SWRancher and Murahilin, he was egging on my 4 year old daughter to buy a six inch Surinam Cherry seedling she had picked up for $10! Left with a Grafted Kampong Mauve Sugar apple. Overall the selection was good, prices too..

Didn't see any Sri Chompoo at the sale. They only had Kohala. I also checked at Excalibur. Didn't see any and I forgot to ask Richard. I'll be on the lookout for one for you.

The sale wasn't that great this year. Not as many trees or varieties as usual. Still a good selection but it should have had more rare trees being a rare fruit council sale.

No problem. I am glad I was able to help you. Were you the one who got the Lisa atemoya, the barbados cherry and a few other trees?

You didn't end up getting that seedling black sapote that your daughter wanted either?

Murahilin,

I forgot about the Black Sapote! I picked up a Breadfruit tree last night in the median of Southern Boulevard outside the fairgrounds property, guess they had a hard time selling it huh?
