absolutely NOT! At least not in the ground, in my experience. I've tried at least 3 times, and in some of the most protected areas of 2 different yards.... in Palm Springs and Los Angeles

However, in a pot, or a series of incresingly larger pots, brought inside in the winter, you might have a chance to see how long it will live and grow....

Try Pindo palm out or a date palm, if your looking for some tasty palm fruit.

hehe, it's just wishful thinking, we were supposed to have the palms removed when we were renovating the house, but for some reason decided not to, so it would cost more to remove them as they grow bigger.

coconut reminds me of the old country, and i don't care much for dates, they're old folks fruit.
