Rambutan Marcot, what to do?

Blessed greetings fellow gradeners world over, i am highly intrigued by and respectful of the views on these forums and that is why i had to join to ask these questions.

First i dont how to upload them but i hav photos of my rambutan marcot(airlayer) i recieved in may an planted as soon as i got. its leaves started to burn and wilt upon arrival so i decided to cut the leaves to stop water loss and stimulate roots or somthing like that, now its begun to sshoot but from the underneath the closest bud to the ground and the top is barely moving.

Q. should i cut off the top half of it/ or shud i leave it alone?
