Pruning mango after new growth?

Hello all, I have new growth on my 2 year old potted Glenn and it looks healthy as can be. But, I want some more branching to start earlier on the main branches so I want to prune the branches back some to get new multiple growths from some leaf nodes earlier on the main branches. Since these main branches have shot out new growth for the year already should I wait until next year or if I prune them back now will I get more growth this year?

This probably makes no sense... Lol sorry I don't have a good horticulture vocabulary.

Thanks
