| A friend of mine gave me a half dozen fruits she bought in an an Asian food market. They look more like a sea urchin than a fruit, but the spikes are soft. She said they are in the lychee family but no pics of lychees I have been able to find are anything like this. The fruit peels easily by hand, is soft, with a consistency like a grape or kiwi. and has a single seed inside.
Anybody have an idea? |

| Rambutan. Pretty common "exotic" fruit in grocery stores, they show up fairly often. Closely related to litchi, fairly similar in flavor, but with the spikes on the skin. |
