Young mango: full sun or shade?

I noticed my sisterÃ¢ÂÂs younger Manila, morning sun but afternoon shade, is growing faster than my Manila in full sun. Both tree are about ÃÂ¾Ã¢ÂÂ dia at the trunk. IÃ¢ÂÂm in CA91501. What is your experience on this, and what do you do to have the optimum sun condition?

Here sometimes young trees are sprayed with kaolin to protect them from the intense sun. Leaf damage slows growth so it's best to get them up a bit as soon as possible. Once they've got a bit of growth on them then full sun is best.
