Young mango: full sun or shade?

I noticed my sister’s younger Manila, morning sun but afternoon shade, is growing faster than my Manila in full sun. Both tree are about ¾” dia at the trunk. I’m in CA91501. What is your experience on this, and what do you do to have the optimum sun condition?

RE: Young mango: full sun or shade?

Here sometimes young trees are sprayed with kaolin to protect them from the intense sun. Leaf damage slows growth so it's best to get them up a bit as soon as possible. Once they've got a bit of growth on them then full sun is best.
