Other than the size, they do look similar. Is it because the size of the fruit that the seed came from?

Not sure. After a little more research I think that what I thought were supposed to be the same plant may actually be two different kinds of garcinia.

John...definitely two different types. I would bet the large seed is actually the Mexican garcinia. One of the biggest complaints from these types of garcinias are the huge seeds. The other seed looks almost like a mangosteen seed.

I agree with Jay, the bigger one is the Mexican Garcinia sp.

I also agree.. I just received a bunch of mex. garcinia seed from mexico and they all were large exactly like the one on the right. The other looks similar to mangosteen.

The seeds to the right are definitely the Mexican Garcinia Sp I have sprouted about 50 of them. I found that if you remove that brown skin from the seeds they will sprout almost 2 weeks faster! I have a couple seedlings over 2 feet tall.
