I can only think of "Gia Bo", Cow skin in VN. lol. Cant't translate Skin growl.
Base on my search, the one from VN are similar to what we have eher.

yea what's up with all the thai name? is it because the nursery only import from thailand?

I got more info today. The longan is named 'da bo' or Cowhide longan. Anybody have any experience with this longan? It appears to be an exceptional cultivar.

There's some info online but all are in VN. Very difficult for me to translate. The common name is "da bo" cow skin, or "tieu da bo" pepper cow skin. Nhan=longan.

You found it!! You even found pictures!! Thanks! That looks just like the fruits on his tree. I initially thought he was saying "Skin Growl", but after asking him a second time, I realized he was saying "Cow Skin". Does anyone know if this longan has been previously cultivated in FL?

I still need to plant a Longan ....

:-) NO doubt. I already grafted a couple and I'm going to start layers as soon as harvest ends.

Looks like a promising Longan variety. Would love to try growing another good variety of Longan besides 'Kohala'.
