Yep, here in South Florida, my Suebelle produces for several months as well - from about May to September. The two drawbacks for me have been: the quality of fruit doesn't seem to be as good as Florida cultivars such as Redlands and it grows exceptionally vigorously. I'm sure in SoCal, the flavor is much better than here.

But Jeff,I've only had Sue-lol. But I have heard that fuzzy leafed Sapotes like cooler nights and a cool -but not freezing- winter. Glosy above and below leafed tree's like your hotter more tropical climates. Lowland forms and cultivar's of, I guess.
They might be very drought tolerant-but it ruins flavor..the more water,the sweeter they are. At Sue's best she's very sweet and flavorful..like ice cream.
