Go to the Fairchild Gardens site, and read their tips on Jakfruit. They say that the tree can be "easily" kept at a height and spread of 6 to 8 feet.

Pine Island nursery says they can be kept to a size 12'x12' and still produce 200 pounds of fruit per year.

I plan on keeping my gold nugget to around 13 feet high (It's nearly 10' now) and maybe 10 feet or so across, but I have no idea how old it is so I can't predict when it may give me fruit. All the jakfruit I know of are in pretty sunny spots.

My Bangkok lemon flowered for the first time this year. Only male blooms but my tree is only about 8ft tall. I have be hacking it down to about 5-6ft every winter. I am hoping next year I will see some female blooms.

I wish I could try a good cultivar as the one I bought was too chewy like latex-y juicy fruit bubble gum very hard to swallow. Was the bagkok lemon chewy or crunchy texture?

Joe - It was crunchy. Has a great aroma and taste (somewhat juicy fruit like). I also tried another variety (don't remember of the top of my head) that was more orange in color that was not a crunchy type. Aroma was amazing but taste and texture did not live up to the aroma and was inferior to the Bangkok Lemon.

This is my 2 or 3 year old (from 25 gal) Bangkok Lemon Jack. It currently has 1 growing fruit that is about 8 lbs or so ...

I figure the fruit will be ready to eat over the next month or so.

It has actually grown quite a bit since the above piture, which was taken this spring. The ladder in the pic is 6 ft I believe ..
