First Mangoes...

This is one of three. I picked too soon,or they as first ever in ground fruits need the tree to be larger to sweeten. Still,the wife and niece liked green Mango with salt..ate them skin and all.
Like I said,this part of the plant had smaller leaves and the whole potted plant look. Now,the new growth is like that of a tree.. And I wouldn't doubt that in the last weeks of summer it could be near 6' tall...almost double what it was in spring.
Oh well,hope for the best...and I still have the Autulfo seeding coming along too.

I didn't see any changes in weeks.not bigger,not more color. So I picked all of them. I guess I should have waited. But, in years past my Manila Mangoes were ripe and sweet by September.
That gouge thing I think is caused by spring temps during early formation that go up for a few days....then would go down to the 60's as highs. Our warm summer starts in June,and when nights go to 60f.

Correction: My wife and the niece told me the fruits were sweet. I was so sure they weren't just by looking at them..I let them eat all of them. And I asked - Even without salt they tasted like sweet Mangoes? They said yes.
But,I was at the market...and couldn't let the Carrie Mango plant go unsold. It was that or Valencia Pride. My present Mango has big size written on it...the Carrie can front it with its smaller size.
