They should be able to handle more...Carambola is one of, if not the most, prolific tropical fruit trees in terms of bearing fruit.

Yah, I don't think you ever need to thin fruit on carambolas... unless you want bigger fruit.

Jeff, as you know I have only very few natural pollinators and have been playing "Bee" every day and I think that I'm getting a lot more fruit than you normally would?

My concern is breaking the stem or branch? If the only deal to be concerned with is less fruit or more fruit, I'll thin to 2 or 3 per stem and see what happens. Later on I can always up that.

i wouldnt keep that many. carambola can be very productive, the weight of the fruit will often bend the branches breaking some of the layers of the bark, inhibiting more budding and more fruit. ive seen a lot of weeping trees loaded with fruit
