avocado pest

Hi everyone, i'm in san diego and planted a couple of avocado trees about 2 months ago (my first, so I'm not experienced). They seem to be doing ok, but I have noticed some chew marks in the leaves. For a while I couldn't see any pests, but i took a real close look today and noticed some very small brownish things on the bottoms of the leaves and some silk-like strands connecting some of leaves (and I saw one of the tiny brown creatures on one of the strands). Is this description enough for anyone to tell me what I have? Or does it not matter and I can just get some generic spray to take care of it? I could try and get a picture of some of the damage if it would help. Thanks!
