In Florida, I have a number of growers who sell 'Brooks' green.

Here in Guatemala, mango heaven, they sell most varieties green, as in before they get ripe. They start selling them when they are the size of apricots and continue selling them as such until they ripen.

* Meant to say 'have met a number of growers'.

Some growers will not sell them green because they command a higher price per pound at maturity.

In my experience the best green eating mangoes are Keow Savoy and Pim Saen Mun. There are other that are not bad, both those are my favorite.

Thanks all for the replies, what a resource this group is. A few names, and there is a wealth of information out there on mangos for eating while green. While all three of the varieties mentioned are commonly eaten green, it sounds like the Keow Savoy is the most important cultivar.

Now all I need to do is find one in So. CA (or find someone to ship me one).
