Fast growth on Dwarf Banana

GulfwaterLily

A little over 6 weeks ago I bought a Dwarf Cavendish banana plant at Walmart. It was exactly 12 inches tall and had 2 small pups. As soon as I got home, I transplanted it into a larger pot and fertilized it with a slow release fertilizer. In the last 6 weeks it has more than tripled in size! (from 12 in. to 38 in.) According to what I've been reading on some other forums, this is exceptional growth. Granted, I do live in the tropics (South West Florida) but even for here that growth rate is extreme. At this rate I'm going to be expecting a bumper crop of bananas!!! :) Maybe it was mislabeled? If you have anything to share about this, I would appreciate it. In the meantime, I'm just going to sit back and watch my "Jack and the Beanstalk" banana plant thrive! Thanks.
