Pollination of Atemoya by fruit flies

There are rumors that this works. In my area, it's difficult to hand pollinate because the pollen dries out fast. It seems easy enough. Do you need to buy fruit flies, or do you just get some rotting fruit?

I don't know what area of the country your Zone 9B is, but I used to live in subtropical 9B and rotting fruit would definitely do the trick. Even if you purchased them, they'd still require rotting fruit to stick around. Stale beer will also draw them in.
